Before you start
Keep your dog relaxed, have treats ready and do not rush. If your charity gave you its own fitting instructions, keep those with you too.
Follow this journey
Find the manufacturer name, model or label. Do not use another manufacturer's fitting method just because the chairs look similar.
Lay out the frame, wheels, harnesses, slings, clips and any special supports supplied with the chair. If something is missing or damaged, stop and contact the lending charity before fitting.
Select the actual make of the loan chair. The maker's guide or video is extra help; it is not the end of this setup journey.
Now continue here. Check frame height, length and width where adjustable; then check the front harness, rear support or sling, wheel position, balance and any amputee-specific support. Your dog should be centred and comfortably supported when viewed from the side and behind.
Check for twisting, sagging, pressure, rubbing and poor balance. If you have a charity loan reference, keep it with the photos or video.
Start with a short, positive session on a safe, level surface. Do not pull or force a dog that is frightened, shaking or refusing to move.
Look for rubbing, pressure marks, slipping harnesses, changed wheel position or anything that moved. Re-adjust one thing at a time and repeat the Fit Check if needed.
When the chair stays centred, your dog is comfortable and the short walk looks good, build walking time gradually and keep the charity's return/contact details with the chair.

Don't keep changing everything at once. Take a clear photo from the side and from behind, plus a short walking video if possible. These can help the lending charity or mobility professional see what needs adjusting.
